WHAT WE NEED
- Remove the scales or spines as shown below
- Dry them, and place them in a small envelope, or wrap in clean paper
- Place them in an envelope for mailing, along with :
* date of capture
* location (lake or river, port or town nearest)
* length and weight (if available)
* sex (if known)
* species
* your name, address, and preferably email address for response
* cash, check or money order for $9.99 per fish

Note the location to remove the scales in above pictures. We need approximately 10 scales from this location. Below the center line of the fish, just behind the front (pectoral) fin. This will work for any spiny rayed fish, such as bluegill and bass. Soft rayed fish such as pike, please take scales from the same location, only ABOVE the centerline of the fish.
If you prefer to send spines, then please cut the first three spines from the dorsal fin, right at the base of the fin against the fishes back. Of course scales should be used if the fish is going to be mounted.
